Autumn. It’s a season of change

But is that good or bad?

✔ I love seeing the leaves change from green to yellow to red to orange and brown. Falling, twisting, dancing in the air. It’s a beauty you don’t get at any other time of year. But the trees are also becoming bare…

✔ Autumnal weather is one of my favourite things with clouds scudding across windswept landscapes, the breeze ruffling your carefully coiffed hair (or not in my case). It’s exciting, ever-moving and fickle. Makes you feel alive! But it can also cause damage. Storms, floods, gales…

✔ With the nights drawing in you can cosy up with candles, bury yourself beneath blankets and curl up with your favourite book. It’s the Hygge* time of year when it’s OK to indulge in some comfort food. But it can be hard when all you want to do is hibernate and feelings of isolation take over…

The contradictions of autumn can be unsettling, if not downright difficult to deal with. Much like seasons of change in our lives.

If you’re struggling right now, with autumn or something specific in your life, remember God never changes (Mal 3:6). Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever (Heb 13:8, NLT).

In Him we look forward to eternal life and healing:

“On each side of the river grew a tree of life, bearing twelve crops of fruit, with a fresh crop each month. The leaves were used for medicine to heal the nations.” – Rev 22:2 (NLT)

Jesus will calm your storms:

“…He rebuked the wind and said to the water, “Quiet down!” Suddenly the wind stopped, and there was a great calm.” – Mk 4:39 (NLT)

And no matter how oppressive your life feels He is there, penetrating the darkest of nights:

“I have come as a light to shine in this dark world, so that all who put their trust in me will no longer remain in darkness.” – Jn 12:46 (NLT)

God is for you and wants what’s best for you so let’s embrace the change, always trusting Him.

God bless xx
