Spring flowers: daffodils and hyacinthsSpring flowers are truly delightful. Their life and colour beginning to show once more after the dark and cold of winter. And flowers can make us feel better any time. Have you ever been ill and someone brought you a bunch? How did you feel then?

I think spring flowers are the most beautiful of all. Perhaps it’s because of the promise of plenty in the season, maybe it’s the blooms’ simplicity that speaks to me. Or it could be something else. Either way drink in the snowdrops, crocuses, daffodils, tulips, bluebells, etc as they come.

Do you think God make it this way on purpose, using His Creation to make our souls dance at a time when we need a boost? Flowers certainly symbolise joy and abundance in the Bible:

“Flowers appear on the earth; the season of singing has come…” – Song of Songs 2:12 (NIV)

“The desert and the parched land will be glad; the wilderness will rejoice and blossom. Like the crocus it will burst into bloom; it will rejoice greatly and shout for joy…” – Is 35:1-2 (NIV)

In spring, snowdrops are the bright specks of light penetrating the darkness – simple white blooms symbolising new life and purity. Then crocuses appear in hues of yellow and gold – pointing towards the coming King Jesus as Easter approaches. Next it’s daffodils with their trumpets of yellow – a joyful reminder of the triumphant life in Christ.

And then the season of flourishing has truly come.

Just imagine (or go out and look) at the splendour of row upon row of bold colour in a tulip field. Don’t you just want your spirit to feel like a swathe of these bright spring blooms?

How astounding and timely the coming of all God’s flowers. Praise Him!!

And do share your flower experiences in the comments below. Let’s lift one another and dance a happy dance as life unfolds once again in all it’s glory.

God bless xx
