Enhanced DBS Checks: All team leaders, core staff, and event helpers undergo an Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check with Barred List checks prior to participating in events.

A staff member or contractor will never be alone in an unobserved or enclosed space with a child who is not their own.

We promote an atmosphere built on kindness, compassion, peace, and mutual respect:

Positive Encouragement: Staff use constructive, affirming language. Physical punishment, shouting, or belittling behaviour is strictly prohibited.

Physical Contact Policy: Physical contact is kept to an absolute minimum and limited to necessary safety situations (e.g., demonstrating a geology tool, emergency assistance, or administering basic first aid). All first aid administered is logged and reported to parents immediately.

report 7. Handling Safeguarding Concerns or Disclosures

7.1 Four-Step Disclosure Action Protocol

1. Listen Listen calmly without asking leading questions or promising secrecy.

2. Reassure Reassure the child that they were right to speak up and are not to blame.

3. Record Record accurate notes using the child's own words with timestamps.

4. Report Pass concerns directly to Lead DSL Susan Hammond.

warning 7.2 Statutory External Escalation

If there is reasonable cause to suspect a child is suffering or at risk of significant harm, CLA3 has a statutory duty under UK law to report directly to **Leicestershire Children's Social Care (Multi-Agency Safeguarding Hub - MASH)** or Emergency Services (999).

Explicit Opt-in Consent: Photos or videos are never taken or published without explicit, opt-in written consent from a parent or guardian.
No Full Names: Published media will never include full names, addresses, or specific personal details.
Device Policy: Staff and event helpers are prohibited from using personal mobile devices or cameras to photograph children.

All personal information collected during bookings (parent names, emergency contacts, child dietary/medical needs) is processed in strict compliance with the **UK GDPR** and **Data Protection Act 2018**.

Safeguarding records are stored in encrypted, access-restricted digital storage accessible only by the Lead DSL on a strict need-to-know basis.
